NCEE - supporting the Performance Horse & Breeding Industry Welcome to the November edition of NCEE e-news. Through this forum we aim to keep you informed about the education and training opportunities and initatives currently being undertaken by the NCEE for the Equine industry. NCEE committed to the Equine Industry The National Centre for Equine Education (NCEE) is a leading specialist trainer with more than 20 years of experience in equine education and training. The NCEE is committed to the continued development of a professional Equine Industry through quality training and skills development of individuals, staff and equine business owners. NCEE providing skilled new workers into the Equine Industry The NCEE has a proud tradition of providing employment-ready new entrants into the Equine Industry. NCEE provides equine training to approximately 200 secondary school students as a part of their VCE studies, with practical training provided across Victoria at leading studs and stables. Experienced equine Horsemen and women get recognised! Do you or your staff already have excellent equine industry skills and knowledge? Skills Recognition, also known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), is a process where the knowledge and skills gained through years of working within the industry is recognised and translated into a formal qualification. Combined Diploma delivery - dual Diploma The NCEE are proud to offer students the opportunity to develop skills in both the equine breeding and equine performance horse industries. Students are immersed into practical learning at the purpose-built equine training facility at the new Rural Industries Campus, Wangaratta. Irish National Stud Scholarship winner For the past 17 years, the most outstanding Horse Breeding student has been selected to study at the Irish National Stud, in Kildare. The winner is chosen on the basis of academic achievement, practical skill development, contribution and passion for the industry and outstanding work ethic. Student achievement awards Outstanding students from the National Centre for Equine Education (NCEE) were acknowledged as the best for 2009 at an award dinner in Wangaratta recently. Flexible learning for mature-age students You don’t have to have just finished school to study for a qualification. The Diploma of Equine Stud Management can be undertaken on a part-time basis through a combination of distance learning and intensive workshops, held during Autumn and Winter to minimise impacting upon the breeding season. New home for NCEE Excitement is growing as the brand new Rural Industries Campus at Wangaratta nears completion. This will be the new home for NCEE and Park Lane Stud, and has purpose built equine training facilities including stable complex with 23 boxes, 2 stallion boxes, serving barn, 70m x 40 m covered equestrian arena, seminar rooms, and the brand new Wangaratta Equine Veterinary Hospital. Equine short courses - seminars for skills training Explore topics to enhance your skills and knowledge through short intensive seminars. These short courses generally run for one or two days, and are held at the new Rural Industries Campus, Wangaratta. Skills for Growth: the Workforce Development Program Skills for Growth is a Victorian Government initiative designed to aid small and medium Victorian businesses identify training and education opportunities that will benefit the business and develop the skills of their staff. Welcome The National Centre for Equine Education (NCEE) is a specialist training centre established within Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE (GOTAFE). The NCEE caters for the horse racing, horse breeding, equine health, performance horse and general equine sectors offering industry approved qualifications to both secondary students and those already working in the field. The NCEE is committed to meeting the needs of the Equine industry. Specialist short courses and flexible training are available to the equine industry to cater for individual requirements. The NCEE has campuses in Victoria including Wangaratta in the North East and Cranbourne in south east Victoria.
