Short courses for the Equine Industry

With the January opening of the new purpose built equine training facility at the Rural Industries Campus in Tone Road Wangaratta the NCEE would like to invite all horse enthusiasts to have a look at the range of short courses being offered in 2010.

The NCEE staff have experience in all facets of horse education including specialists in Equine Nutrition, Horse Stud Management, Equine First Aid, Horse Health and Horse Business Operations.

The Rural Industries Campus has facilities that include a full size undercover riding arena, 23 stables and purpose built class rooms, located just off the Hume Highway with easy access to accommodation and town facilities.

Courses are offered throughout the year with the seasonal aspect of horse breeding and performance considered.

Safe Handling of Horses is running on 4-5 February and is a great opportunity to learn practical skills and the theory behind restraint loading and basic behaviour. This workshop is suitable for all members of the equine industry. Will also be run again in June.

Occupational Health and Safety is vital in the horse industry and we are offering a short course that is designed to give horse owners and rider's information that can assist in understanding the legislation and keeping your records up to date.

If you are starting up or running your own horse business, why not consider a short course in Business Operations or Marketing specifically tailored for horse business?

First Aid for Horses is offered in April so you can stock up your first aid kit for next season.

The Foaling Down course is offered in July so that everyone is ready in August when mares start to foal.

Ever wondered why your horse behaves the way he does? Come along to the Equine Behaviour short course and learn about the horses evolution and meet people with a similar interest and love for horses.

Later in the year the NCEE will be delivering a short course in Artificial Insemination and Pedigree Analysis (dates to be confirmed)
