Enrolments up in breeding course

The National Centre for Equine Education (NCEE) has seen a significant increase in the number of enrolments in the Diploma of Equine Stud Management program for 2008.

On-campus quotas are currently full, with correspondence enrolments also high. NCEE Manager, Daniella White says "The surge in interest in studying regionally may be partly attributable to the rebranding of the Centre in 2006, in addition to strong industry support and a close alliance to the North East Thoroughbreds."

The NCEE's practical arm, the Park Lane Stud, has undergone a recent strategic change to redefine its potential and in supporting students to become leaders in their fields.

Along with new management, the Stud has also restocked with a band of quality mares. These mares will be bred to the best stallions that Victoria can offer with resultant progeny being offered for sale at the Great Southern Weanling Sale in May.

The Park Lane Stud has become a more commercial operation with clients able to access its services. This enables students further training and awareness of industry expectations.

With the development of a new $10 million campus in Wangaratta, to be operational late 2009, the future certainly looks bright for those aspiring equine enthusiasts who choose the NCEE to study the Diploma of Equine Stud Management program to further their knowledge and gain employment in the thoroughbred industry.
