NCEE sponsors Thoroughbred Festival

The NCEE is again a sponsor of the Victorian Country Thoroughbred Festival being held in Seymour on 8, 9 & 10 August.

The Seymour Racing Club presents the second running of the CRT Victorian Country Thoroughbred Festival which has grown quickly to encompass three days of activities. The Festival showcases Victoria's thoroughbred racing and breeding industries in the heart of Victoria's Thoroughbred Homeland - the North East.

Horse and racing enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience an innovative trade expo expected to host around 50 quality horse and industry related exhibitors including the NCEE. The trade expo runs in conjunction with a showcase card of country racing featuring Super VOBIS bonuses (recognizing and rewarding Victorian bred horses) on all races as well as the 1st running of the $50,000 Seymour 3yo Vase over 1300m.

Aside from the race day and trade expo (Sunday 10 August), the weekend has plenty of serious activity for a participant to get involved in. On Friday morning (8 August) there is a business networking opportunity followed by a "Sustainability in the Equine Industry" field trip to Darley, one of the region's most spectacular Thoroughbred studs. Registered participants in the field trip will be able to learn about developments in three key areas, plus be treated to a parade of the Darley Stallion line up.

Former Agriculture Minister and now Chief Executive of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia, Mr Peter McGauran will be a key note speaker at Mitchelton Winery on Friday. Mr McGauran's topic is "Equine Influenza 12 months on".

To round out the Saturday, the North East Thoroughbred Industry rewards its finest (horses and horse people) at the annual Black Tie Awards Dinner. This year the venue will be the Regatta Centre at Nagambie. This popular annual awards night has been going for around 25 years and provides a great opportunity for the industry to come together and celebrate another successful racing/breeding season, on the eve of the new season beginning.
