GOTAFE shines at Vet Nurses conference
The Animal Sciences department at GOTAFE attended the annual Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia Conference held at Crown Promenade last month.
Dr Alanna Kirley, Lesley Sanderson and Rebecca Creer represented GOTAFE at the three day conference which was attended by over 500 veterinary nurses from across Australia and New Zealand.
The GOTAFE stand in the commercial
exhibitors' gallery was well attended by
veterinary nurses, with over 300 show bags handed out and questionnaires filled in. The data collected from these questionnaires will give the department greater insight into the training requirements of veterinary nurses across Australia.
To encourage the veterinary nurses to
fill out the questionnaire a Littmann stethoscope and scrub top was offered as a prize which was won by Rebecca Henderson who is employed in a small animal practice. Rebecca says she entered the profession as a 'sea change' and is happy with her choice of new career.
The feedback from conference attendees has been excellent, with phone calls regarding training already coming in, so an excellent outcome for the Animal Care Unit with opportunities for Diploma of Veterinary Nursing delivery Australia wide.
GOTAFE offers the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, Diploma of Veterinary Nursing and the Certificate III in Equine Nursing.
