NCEE sponsors Interschool Championships

The NCEE was a proud sponsor at the 2009 Victorian Interschool Championships held at the National Equestrian Centre in Werribee from 6-9 July.

It was a great event with over 400 competitors from around the state and from both primary and secondary schools competing in Dressage, Jumping, Jumping Equitation, Showmanship, Show Horse, Agility/ Games, Combined Training, Handy Mount and Horse Trials.

The event gives the students to demonstrate their enthusiasm, enjoyment and skill level in their chosen discipline. Great fun and excitement kept everyone busy over the four day program with parents also enjoying the sunshine and good weather.

As many competitors and their families had travelled along way to participate they camped at the WEC during the competition and was a great experience for all.

A jump and drive exhibition was organised one night to entertain the competitors and their families. This event was a great spectacle with students competing against the professional show jumpers in a race around a jumping course, then a sprint to a waiting horse carriage where they bravely jumped aboard and helped the driver to negotiate a tricky obstacle course against the clock. There were many moments of anticipation as riders leap from their mounts and carriages knocked the obstacles as they cut corners racing the clock. The crowd was highly entertained by the riders and the horses.

Winners of the different events qualified to compete at the Horseland Equestrian Australia Interschool Championships that will be held at the National Equestrian Centre in Werribee from 29 September until 1 October 2009.

This event helps to promote equestrian sports and to nurture the talented riders of Victoria that may go on to be future stars at state, national and Olympic level.

The NCEE had many students compete with their school and enjoyed great success with a number qualifying for the Australian Interschool Championships.

Congratulations to Renee Thompson, Hayley Lia, Ashlee Whitworth, Georgia Harkin, Jemma Clark, Taylah Frampton, Hannah Way, Laura Dunn and Elizabeth Wischer who all showed tremendous skill and achieved fabulous results!
