Seminars enhance equine training experience
Students of the National Centre for Equine Education have attended two fabulous seminars in the last couple of weeks.
The first was hosted by S & S Vets of Avenel, where Drs Terry Lowis, Dave Leck (S &S Vets) and Dr John Hurley (Swettenham Stud) gave informative talks on Modern Breeding Technologies, The Abnormal Foal, Foaling Unit Emergencies, Management of Angular Limb Deformities in foals.
Held at the Avenel Golf Club, it was a great night with many studs in the area attending and contributing to the night.
The second seminar was hosted by Tatura and Campaspe Veterinary Clinics at the Ballantyne Centre in Tatura. It was wonderful to see a great turn out of local equine enthusiasts at the free seminar.
Drs Clare Williams-Paterson, Cindy Dudgeon and Amber Thiel (Tatura & Campaspe Veterinary Clinic) gave talks on interesting clinical cases, eye conditions and the low down on commonly used drugs.
The special guest presenter was Dr James Gilkerson of University of Melbourne Veterinary Science Research department. He is a Associate Professor in Veterinary Microbiology. Dr Gilkerson gave three talks covering Rattles, Strangles and Hendra Virus.
Both veterinary clinics allowed the NCEE to record the seminars for vodcasting for all NCEE students to access.
The NCEE wishes to thank the sponsors of the nights, S & S Vets and Tatura & Campaspe Veterinary Clinic for hosting the events.
