Star Spangled Banner's strapper wins

The latest winner of the National Centre for Equine Education strappers prize has been awarded to Eric Troon.

Eric had his charge, "Reflex" looking a treat in a hotly contested field of strappers which included two past winners, Frank Butler and Rebecca Miller.

Eric has worked in the Racing Industry all of his life which has included 55 rides over the jumps and quite a few winners before he was badly injured in a race fall.

Eric is passionate about the racing industry and has worked for Leon Corstens for the past seven years.

He is strapper and track rider for Caulfield Guinea's hope "Star Spangled Banner" and is hoping that he can win the big one on Saturday.

The National Centre for Equine Education is offering a $100 strappers prize to the best presented horse in the feature race at all Wangaratta meetings. This is to show support and highlight the important job of stable hands in the racing industry. The award has attracted much interest and fierce competition with all horses and strappers in the running.
