RDA Open Day this Saturday
The Echuca Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) is holding an Open Day on Saturday 10 October at the Echuca Racecourse, Scott Road, Echuca.
The Open Day is being organised by McGuire Secondary College Year 11 student Natalie King as a project for her Certificate II in Equine Industries course run by the National Centre for Equine Education. The Certificate is available as a VET in schools program for year 10, 11 and 12 students and adds to the student's VCE ENTER score.
The aim of the day is to showcase the great work this organisation does for the community and to encourage new volunteers and riders.
Everyone is welcome, entry is free with a sausage sizzle and face painting, as well as a demonstration by Liz Williams, Senior Lecturer Rural Physiotherapy at the School of Physiotherapy, University of Melbourne, Shepparton. There will also be a talk on horse nutrition by CopRice, who are the major sponsor for the event.
The Riding for the Disabled Association is a voluntary, non-profit organisation which provides opportunities for anyone with a disability to enjoy safe, healthy, stimulating, therapeutic, horse-related activities in Australia.
The Echuca RDA is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who meet once a month to provide riding opportunities for people of all ages with a disability.
The day is proudly sponsored by CopRice who are donating funds and products to feed the horses and is supported by the Echuca Racing Club who give RDA the use of the racecourse grounds and facilities.
