Skilled workers for the Thoroughbred industry
The NCEE has a proud tradition of providing employment-ready new entrants into the Thoroughbred Breeding Industry.
The NCEE provides equine training to approximately 200 secondary school students as a part of their VCE studies, with practical training provided across Victoria at leading studs and stables. These students are encouraged to continue post-secondary training in Equine fields, to become the next generation of professional participants in the Equine Industry.
A School-based Apprenticeship program is also offered, with young people working, earning and learning on the stud. Employers can access government incentive moneys to support the students' learning.
Post-secondary school studies in the Diploma of Equine Stud Management on-campus has provided the Victorian Thoroughbred Breeding Industry world-class employees for the past 20 years. Indeed, the graduates have enjoyed a 100% employment rate within the Industry.
Students are immersed in the day-to-day running of the Thoroughbred Park Lane Stud on-campus, and are exposed to a number of workplacements at leading studs. The winning combination of theoretical and highly practical learning, along with world-class equine educators, is the key to the excellent calibre of NCEE graduates.
If you know school students and school leavers with a keen interest in a career working with horses, why not tell them about the NCEE.
