Warren Sutton
Certificate IV in Racing (Thoroughbred Owner-Trainer)
Diploma of Racing (Permit to Train)
As the Company Director at Creightons Creek Bloodstock Services, Warren Sutton had a group of racing trainees studying the Certificate III in Racing (Advanced Stablehand). To encourage the trainees to take their study seriously Warren also enrolled himself into a course to assist his own career and add a formal qualification to his already impressive resume.
In the 80s Warren had worked his way around Europe and the USA as a stablehand. He returned to Australia as Foreman for Lindsay Park Racing and in 2002 he was appointed Manager of Lindsay Park’s pre-racing and thoroughbred education property based at Creighton’s Creek near Euroa in Victoria.
Warren enrolled in the Certificate IV in Racing (Thoroughbred Owner-Trainer) and rather than taking RPL (recognition of prior learning) for the first 11 units, he completed all the assessment tasks with the group - a great example of leadership for his staff.
In 2005 Warren enrolled in the Diploma of Racing, now a prerequisite for a public trainer’s license through Racing Victoria Limited. The units covered the skills needed to set up a business in the thoroughbred industry and Warren submitted an impressive business plan for assessment.
In January 2006 Warren’s plans became a reality and Creighton’s Creek Bloodstock Services was formed. Warren now holds the industry required qualification to take his career in whatever direction he may choose.
